Dental Implants and Restoration

If a tooth/teeth is/are extracted or missing for some reason, it is now possible to replace it using a/an dental implant(s). An implant for a single tooth, is like a new tooth made of titanium and ceramic that looks just like your natural tooth. A complete dental implant is composed of three main parts: One part is the titanium implant body that takes the place of the missing root, the second part is the tooth-colored crown that is permanently secure on top of the implant and the third part is the abutment that connects to the implant body to the crown.

In addition to tooth replacement, implants may be used to anchor prostheses (dentures), both fixed and removable. The most common use of dental implants with a removable denture is the stabilization and support of lower, complete dentures that tend to be unstable and shift when you talk or chew without implant support. For patients missing teeth, dental implants can replace a few or many missing teeth so that you have a more natural-looking smile. For descriptions of the various types of prostheses, please refer to our prostheses tab.

Dental implants play a big role in modern dentistry and provide patients with fantastic options that were not available previously. With the addition of Dr. Suranyi, a Prosthodontic specialist, to the practice, we are continually working to provide our patients with the best possible options and treatments available.
